    Hello all,

My HD is dying and my OS is on the HD, how can I migrate the Windows OS to my SSD.

I can't find the Product Key because it is on me Microsoft account.

Can any give me an idea of the steps to resolve this problem

I have a new HD which I will replace and use data storage, I believe I have to change the boot up in the BIOS settings.

    thanks

    Reformatting SSD and not HD

    Hello there!

I have an MSI Laptop with a 128gb SSD and a 500gb HD.

I have windows installed on my SSD and personal files on my HD. But now my SSD is almost full i wish to format it / reinstall windows 10 on it for a fresh start, but without losing the data on my HD.

I have been using Mac OSX for the past ten and am very out of touch of windows.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this would be awesome.

    Many thanks.

    Alex

    Cloning/migrating OS to new HD

    Andre,

    Switched to Legacy, didn't help.

Trying to add 1 TB HD. Currently have 250 GB.

New HD is 4096 sectors (GPT), Old is 512 (MSR).

New is formatted and appears, no errors & active.

Want to transfer (clone/migrate) win10 to new disk.

There must be a way w/o purch new OS, I'm sure others have done this.

Have tried diff softw including microsoft media xfer. read many posts.

No clues. Error always "incompatible media" (sectors).

I have read that GPT will only support 64B and cannot run 32B.

Thanks for your time and comments

    Rgds Don

  4. I want to migrate the Windows OS on my HD to my SSD - HD is dying

Migrating OS from a small SSD to a larger SSD

I have purchased a larger SSD to replace the existing one that I am using for my OS. I have downloaded a couple of different kinds of software to handle this but I have some issues. For one which is called "Minitool Partition Wizard Free 11.6" there is
an option to Migrate OS to SSD/HD Wizard. When I click on this, however, I get an error stating "Because the bootable volume and system volume are not on the same disk. Migrate OS to SSD/HD Wizard cannot be launched. Sorry."

I am not sure why this is occurring as I don't recall setting up the OS any other way than to just put it all on one disk.

I have also downloaded "EaseUS Partition Master", but will not give me the option to select the actual disk that has my OS on it as the source.

My main question is will it be possible to clone the OS disk onto the new disk without running into licensing issues as long as I wipe the old drive once the cloning is complete?
