  2. Future windows 11 support for Skylake processors?

Unfortunately there will be no support for your processor, the list released by MS is official and it will not be changed, only the listed processors are compatible.

Unfortunately not all processors have joined the official MS compatibility list.

In addition to UEFI, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, to support Windows 11 the Processor must have a feature called VBS or Windows Memory Integrity, but those that are not on the list do not support this.

That's why MS decided not to include these processors in the list, as it can generate a lot of performance problems.

It is even possible to install Windows 11 manually, but it is not recommended as it is not worth it.

Anyway, Windows 10 will be compatible until 2025, the recommendation is to keep it, if you keep using this processor.

If for some reason you upgrade your processor to a newer and more compatible model, then yes, it is recommended that you upgrade to Windows 11.

windows 11 upgrade but processor not supported

    Good Day Sujanmaharjan1.,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 11 pc and community member like you.

The minimum requirements for Windows 11 is at least 8th Gen processors. The processor you are using which is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U is a 7th Gen Processor , not included in the list of Intel supported processors.

Here's the list of intel supported processor for Windows 11.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

You can stay in Windows 10 it is still supported until year 2025, by that time you will have a new computer already.

However if you want to update your device to Windows 11, you can reach out to your computer manufacturer and have them check what is the compatible processor for processor replacement to update to Windows 11.

This is a community forum, I don't work for Microsoft , I am a community member like you.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

    Win 11 supported processors

    Hi Jeff -

I'm Kevin B. Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience, let me help you sort things out.

Your processor is not on the list of processors that supports Windows 11.

You may check the list here:

    Windows 11 supported Intel processors

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

Microsoft usually offers the upgrade to those devices Microsoft believes are the most likely to successfully install the upgrade. If the computer passes the hardware requirements, windows updates will offer the upgrade in stages until such time that device is ready to install the upgrade.

You can reach out to your computer manufacturer to check/upgrade your processor to one that support Windows 11.

You can also stay with Windows 10 as it is still supported until 2025.

Hope this will help and have a blessed day!

    Thanks,

    Kevin B.
