I was installing windows 10 on Lenovo IdeaPad 3 and it's on 34% after 3 hrs I am afraid to stop it because I don't want to go through it again what should I do?

Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7 Starter Edition - Lenovo Ideapad s10-3

I have a Lenovo Ideapad S10-3. I bought it new a few years ago and it came with Windows 7 Starter Edition, and Service Pack 1.



I’ve tried to install Windows 10 a couple of times now, unsuccessfully.
I have tried two methods:

• 
  By installing updates. My Ideapad clearly indicated it was ready to install the Windows 10 update.
  An icon appeared in the right hand corner confirming this.
  
• 
  Downloading the Windows 10, Windows Installer and running it.
  
  
  
  On both occasions I received the following error - C1900101-40017 - Windows update encountered an unknown error.
