I would like to change my current Microsoft account used to log in on my laptop to a different one. However I still would like to be able to use the current email account/address after the change. I don't want the current email linked to my computer. I have a 365 subscription and some pictures and documents in one drive, and outlook app. I do have a Microsoft account/email address that I would like to use when logging in on my computer. Is it possible to transfer data and keep the "old"email address and only remove it as an admin-user from my computer?

Just simply log in with your Microsoft Account.
Switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 10

Just go back to using a local account:
Switch to Local Account in Windows 10

Hopefully the tutorials are step by step enough.

How do I register my PC with my Microsoft account?
But when I'm done, I'd like to use my local account each time to log in.
Please tell me how to do that.

There might be some conflicts on the settings of your PC and your Microsoft account. We would like to ask some questions for clarification:

• Did you follow the steps provided on this
  article to change the name of your Microsoft account?
• Have you tried checking if there available updates for your Windows 10?
• When you said that "when I log on to my laptop the user account is still showing the old name", are you referring on the sign-in screen name?
