Error When Trying To Upgrade To Windows 10 On Toshiba Laptop

I have a Toshiba Satellite s55-a5375 laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit currently installed. The specs are as follows:

Intel Core i7-4700MQ @ 2.40MHZ

16GB RAM

Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Intel HD Graphics 4600

NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (Driver 361.43)

I tried upgrading to Windows 10 after I was told by the upgrade tool that everything was okay. During the installation, I got the following error in a BSOD:

VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR

I'm using the laptop now so it was restored back to Windows 7, but this ticks me off. How do I fix this? The driver listed above is the latest driver according to the Nvidia Geforce Experience. I'd love to find a solution since I'm going to be upgrading not
only my laptop, but my parent's Toshiba Satellite s55-a5377. The specs for their laptop are the same as mine.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

1.) Can my Toshiba Satellite s855-s5378 with Intel HD graphic 4000, 8Gb, i7 Intel core, support a 4k TV as a monitor ?

Intel HD Graphic 4000 version 10.18.10.4276

I'm running a dual monitor the laptop + external 23inches without a problem. I was hoping that I could replace the 23 in. monitor with a 40-43in TV that is 4K and get an external resolution of 4K on the 4kTV. I have HDMI and USB3 ports on the laptop.



2) Can HDMI or usb3 support 4k directly or via an adapter?
