question: I would like to remove Bitlocker from 2 new HP computers that came with Windows 11 pro. These computers, once set up will not be on the internet. I am having a terrible time trying to p2p them The higher end HP workstation will act as a "server" for QuickBooks accounting and it has a second SSD harddrive that twice has been locked by Bitlocker, perhaps when I was checking for updates on the internet. Windows 11 Pro Bitlocker And Downgrade To Windows 10?

I am going to most likely purchase a dell xps 15 9520. The default option is windows 11 home. I see that if I want to upgrade to windows 11 pro, it is about 60 dollars more on dell site


My current old dell xps 15 9550, I use windows 10 pro. I like pro because I want to be able to use bitlocker to encrypt my laptop. Thus I read only windows pro allows you to do this. I need pro in order to use bitlocker right? I read online you still have encryption on windows 11 home but not called bitlocker? I read that with windows 11 home, there is still encryption? But isn't bitlocker encryption so it isn't that strong or something? So how would windows 11 home look when you turn on your computer? It ask you for a password or pin right?


My questions are



1. Upgrade To Windows 11 Pro for about 60 dollars more as oppose to buy home and upgrade yourself as I read online its $99 to go from windows 11 home to windows 11 pro? So always upgrade it if you can?



2. I have a cheap laptop I bought earlier this year where it uses windows 11 home. I rarely used it and it is a cheap celeron slow computer. I do not like how it looks as there isn't a task bar but not only that, if you have multiple chrome tabs, you don''t see it on the taskbar like you do in windows 10 pro. Is there a way to fix this or is this how windows 11 is and you can't fix that? That to me is a huge issue because I do not like how there is only one chrome icon in the bottom middle of the screen and you need to highlight it to see which chrome tab you want to click on.



3. If I buy windows 11 home or windows 11 pro, can i downgrade to windows 10 or windows 10 pro? I still prefer windows 10 pro. So if i get windows 11 pro, i can downgrade to windows 10 pro. If i get windows 11 home, i get only downgrade to windows 10 home?

 

Is there a difference with Bitlocker on Windows 11 Pro, or the M3 Bitlocker Loader?

I have Windows 11 Home and want to install Bitlocker. Every post I've seen says you must upgrade to Windows 11 Pro in order to get Bitlocker. But I've found something called M3 Bitlocker Loader available from M3 software for $19.95 "half-price.

Is this Bitlocker Loader Legitimate? Is it the same thing as Bitlocker on Windows 11 Pro?

Working with an existing Bitlocker-protected external drive on Windows 11 Home - will new data also be encrypted?

Question:

Computers running Windows 11 Home can access external data drives that were previously encrypted/protected using Bitlocker on another machine.

But will *new* data that is written to the external Bitlocker-encrypted/protected drive by the Windows 11 Home computer also be encrypted/protected?

Or, do we need to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro for that because of the limitations of Windows 11 Home with respect to Bitlocker on non-primary drives?

Background:

I have an external Bitlocker-protected SSD drive that I've used for data storage for years. It was Bitlockered using my old computer, which ran Windows 10 Pro. Recently, I purchased a new computer (Surface Pro 9) that comes with Windows 11 Home. The new Windows 11 Home computer can access (read/write) the Bitlocker-protected external SSD drive just fine (plug in the external drive and enter the Bitlocker password). Am I safe in assuming that this external drive will remain fully Bitlocker-protected as I work with it going forward on the new Windows 11 Home computer? I have no other reason to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro, and my old Windows 10 Pro license is OEM and hence non-transferable.
