Windows 10: iCloud file handling problem on Win 10 PC

This is one of those awkward problems where the question may be more appropriate to either Microsoft or Apple. I have a Win 10 PC the best PC type I think and an Apple phone the best phone type I think.I have over 10000 photos and videos in my iCloud. These are all downloaded to \iCloud Photos\Photos on my Win10 PC via the PC iCloud app. I want to move these all to other directories on the PC. I can't 'move' them as th iCloud app on the PC will not let me. If I 'copy' them then I lose th 'Created Date' as it is replaced by today's date. iCloud fails to update on Win 10 PC

Hi,

iCloud v7.11.0.19 to 7.13.0.14 fails to update on my Win 10 PC.

The PC is a SurfacePro 4.

iCloud is working perfectly however on my Lenovo desktop running Win 10.

As far as I can tell, both versions of Windows are up to date.

I've tried to 'manually' install but no success.

I read some earlier posts in 2016 and 2017 about using Revo Uninstaller to completely remove iCloud but I'm reluctant to spend money to solve this.

Any other suggestions.

Remove iCloud Photos from Devices and Drives View in File Explorer

Steps:

1. Open regedit (Win+R, "regedit")
2. Enter key in address bar
3. Deprecate key
   • Opt A. - delete
   • Opt B. - rename something different (e.g. prefix with "_")
4. Close and re-open to observe result

Icloud Drive for windows not syncing files

On windows 10

Files (folders, word, excel pdf ect) that are added to icloud drive folder from the Win 10 PC will not upload to apple server or sync to apple devices

Similarly files added from a mac or apple device do not sync back to Windows 10 PC

Photos, calendar, reminders all sync normally

Everything is up to date (windows & Icloud), tried signing in and out of icloud for windows, etc, disabled Norton, all the obvious things are ok

Called Apple, called Norton, all is good on there end

Even stranger, after signing out of icloud, deleting files off pc, and signing back in the files from icloud download to the pc just fine populating a up to date file list, but once the files are in the PC are alter or added to they will not sync as described
above
