  1. iCloud for Windows completely wiped my desktop folder

Hello!Today I have installed iCloud for Windows 11.While trying to synchronize photos, I may have selected by mistake the desktop folder in the Shared Albums Album condivisi section. After applying the changes, I completely lost all my desktop files and I cannot retrieve them.I also used Recuva but it seems that it can't even find the "old" desktop folder. In fact, after scanning my C disk, no deleted file was found in the Desktop folder.Does somebody know how to restore the desktop as it was previously?

    :)

Windows and Icloud Mail etc: Failing to initialise

    Hi
    TomParkinson2
    ,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Could you please help me with the below questions:

    1. Are you aware of making any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
    2. Do you receive any error message when the spinner stops?

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

    Method 1: Uninstall iCloud application.

I would suggest you to Sign out from the iCloud account from the app, then uninstall the application.

    1. Press Windows
and R key together on your Keyboard.
    2. Type appwiz.cpl and hit enter.
    3. Select the iCloud application and click on Uninstall.

    Method 2: Reinstall iCloud application.

    Step 1:

    I would suggest you toDownload
    the latest version of iCloud

from the apple website. Follow the Onscreen instructions and install the application. For more information, check the article on
Set up and use iCloud for Windows.

    Step 2:

Once the installation is completed, tap on the Windows key on your keyboard, search for ICloud app. Right click on the app and click on
    Pin to taskbar.

If you are using Surface PC, I would suggest you to follow steps mentioned in the Microsoft article about
    Using Surface with iPhone, iCloud,
    and iTunes.

    Hope it helps.

Let us know if you got the help you needed by clicking ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

iCloud for Windows completely wiped my desktop folder

iCloud Drive - Renaming a Folder - Error 0x800701AA: The Cloud operation was not completed ...

This can occur because of a buglet in iCloud Drive. The bug consists of 2 parts:

    1. When you move/rename a folder within the iCloud Drive hierarchy, iCloud thinks you are removing it and pops up a dialog warning you that the folder and its contained files will be deleted from iCloud and all devices. This would be true if you were truly removing the folder from the iCloud hierarchy, but is not true if you're renaming the folder or moving it within the iCloud hierarchy.
    2. The warning dialog pops up UNDER the Windows Explorer window in which you initiated the operation, and that Windows Explorer window becomes unresponsive and cannot be moved. Eventually, the rename times out waiting for you to respond (to a dialog you can't see)
The workaround is to click a few times on the frozen window to force Windows to recognize it as unresponsive. After that you CAN move the window out of the way and click OK in the dialog.

I have also posted this in the Apple Community forum for iCloud Drive.
