Windows 10: iCloud settings are out of date - Windows 10 mail

I really need some help please.


I have a Windows 10 PC and I'm using the Mail programme to access my emails. I can access my btinternet.com emails but can't for my icloud.com ones. The icloud one always says:


"Your icloud settings are out of date"


I've signed into my iCloud account and generated an App-Specific password as other threads have advised, copy and pasted it into the 'Fix Account' but this doesn't work. I've generated multiple passwords and even manually typed it in - all to no avail. Interestingly it did work when setting up my daughter's icloud email - she is another user on the same PC.


I've been onto Apple who were no help. I don't understand why my daughter can access iCloud emails on the PC but I can't. Can anyone help please?

You might need to login to your iCloud account in order for this to be resolved. May we know if you've enabled two-factor authentication on your iCloud account? If so, you'll need to generate an app-specific password to add your iCloud account to the Mail
app. Kindly follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
2. Select Generate Password below App-Specific Passwords.
3. Follow the instructions on your screen.

If the issue persists, you may also try the suggested solutions on this
support article.

To be able to understand the issue better, let us know a few more details on the below question.

• Is the iCloud email set up in Windows Mail App?
• Do you receive the iCloud Notification only when you open/access the Mail App in Windows or any other associated e-mail client program in your computer?

Now, if you turn off a service in iCloud for Windows, your data won't automatically be kept up to date in iCloud, and you won't see updates made on your other devices. This might lead to a conflicting situation and the message/notification
'iCloud account settings are out of date' might appear. So, kindly check if the sync settings are correct.

• Go to Start > All Apps, and open iCloud for Windows.
• Enter your Apple ID to sign in to iCloud.
• Choose the features and content that you want to keep up to date across your devices.
