Windows 10: Icon arrows keep changing

Windows 10 keep changing my desktop icons, it is placing various symbols in the icon short cut arrow area. I've seen a dot, arrow, what looks like a file box with a brown square and other symbols. If I refresh the desktop the icons go back to my default of no arrow. I'm unsure of what causes them to randomly change but I'm not running any program that effects the icons. How do I lock the icons to no shortcut arrow?

I understand your concern and suggest you to Unlink OneDrive and run OneDrive setup
again and check. Here is the steps:

  Right-click the white OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar.

  OneDrive icon.)

  Click Settings, and then click Unlink.

  Follow the steps in the Welcome to OneDrive wizard to set up OneDrive.

The cursor changes the shape from the arrow to a circle with an up arrow and an arrow down

When I have opened a program like Edge on my Windows 10 PC, the cursor changes form from an arrow to a circle with an up arrow and an arrow down.
This new symbol can not activate anything by moving it around with the mouse.
To close the open program, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to get to the job list.
At the same time, the circle symbol turns into the well-known arrow, and I can continue the work normally.

How do I avoid the annoying circle icon?
