    Icon thumbnail cache corrupted on my windows 11


    Hello,My desktop computer has the latest update for Windows 11, but sometimes the thumbnail cache becomes corrupted. I have rebuilt the thumbnail cache several times, but the problem persists. It happens repeatedly. What could be the reason for this? Due to this issue, I have to fix it every time, and it's very annoying. I need a permanent solution for this.

    MP4s lose thumbnails, but gain icons; AVIs still have thumbnails.

    Something happened to my HDD today causing MP4s to lose their thumbnails, but a clone that was made a few days ago, first shows generic icons for the default Player, then after a moment, they turn into thumbnails. I'd like to understand what is going on, and above all, how to make the non-clone show thumbnails again for MP4s.

    Much discussion 'on the web' suggests the icon cache may be corrupt so I made the main HDD a slave to the clone which shows the thumbnails satisfactorily, and cleaned out the icon cache, and refilled it with a copy of the clone's cache. NO improvement !

    Windows 10 New install Corrupted Thumbnails while viewing .ico files

    Well, new install with Windows 10. I noticed while viewing my .ico files the thumbnails are corrupted.
    I tried rebuilding the icon cache as well as purging the thumbnail cache.
    Not sure whats left to try.
    While using winaero tweaker I also noticed that when selecting icons for customization, they come up as blank icons. It never did this before and this problem just started to recently happen.
    Although they work when applying the settings.
    Any suggestions?

    anyone know how to move the thumbnail cache to another HDD?

    i already moved my temp folder to another HDD but thumbnail cache takes up space Fast, and i have having to erase the space cuzz i don't wanna ware down my SSD over time

    i also just googled where the thumbnail cache is and its in the %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer ,But how would you go about moving that 1 Folder and having the system know that's its the new path
