Windows 10: Icons are not displaying thumbnails in latest Windows 10 version

Thought I would post this if the issue is still apparent for others looking for a fix.The problem is not to do with a corrupt thumbnail cache but something else.All existing suggestions I could find revolved around checking settings in file explorer options and advanced system settings and deleting thumbnail cache using an elevated command prompt to kill explorer and delete the cache DB files from the user profile %appdata% area.I tried all including the disk clean app method and none of them worked for me.In the end I moved the image files out of the folder into a new one where they miraculou

  When you say "the thumbnails are just icons", is that on a local account or the Microsoft account?

  Do you have the latest version of ProRes or iTunes installed on the pc?
  

I suggest you to follow the steps below and verify the result.

• 
  Go to file explorer and clock on view.
  
• 
  Select Options and Go to View.
  
• 
  Under Files and folders uncheck the box always show icon, never thumbnails.
  

I also suggest you to install any pending Windows updates on the pc to check if that helps. Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

Hi Laura,

As per the above added info, I suggest that you follow the steps below and check.

1. Open the location where you images or saved.

2. Here click on the View Tab and then on the Option drop down.

3. Here click on the Change folder and search options.

4. Here under View tab, check the box Display file icon on thumbnails
and uncheck Always show icons, not thumbnails.

5. Click on Apply and OK.
