Windows 10: Icons don't show up on the taskbar and while searching

Some of the app icons are shown as a file or an application image instead. But I can see them when I hover over them and even in hidden apps. Also with that, when I search system apps like settings, they're only shown as an image file. Thanks.

System Icons on taskbar

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

  Right click on the search bar

  Click on search
  
• 
  Check show search icon

No search box on taskbar

Please try the below and check if you can see search bar on taskbar:

Steps:

• Right click on Taskbar, move the mouse cursor on to
  Search option.
• Select Show Search icon (You will see Search icon beside Start)
• Select Show search bar (You will see Search bar beside Start)
