Windows 10: Icons in the squares of Start menu

Icons in some of the squares of start menu are missing.

How to make them appear?

Drag any of the "square" icons you want from the start menu to the desktop and then right click on the original square icon and remove it.

 

Start Menu has retained colored squares but icons in them are missing. Also if I right click on the windows icon none of the features listed work.

Please follow the below methods and check if it helps.



Method 1:

• 
  Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press
  CTRL+Shift+ESC.
  
• 
  Click File > Run New Task
  
• 
  Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
  
• 
  Type Powershell
  
• 
  Type the following in the Powershell prompt:
  
  $manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest
  
• 
  Close the Powershell window
  
• 
  Reboot
