Windows 10: Icons keep moving on to my primary monitor in windows 11

Hi,Ever since I switched from windows 10 to 11, I noticed that to shut down/restart my computer all the icons jump from the second monitor to my main monitor. Due to the fact that I want to keep my main monitor background clean, I have the icons on the second monitor.I would also like to know if this is just a windows 11 thing, but I noticed that unlike windows 10, windows 11 doesn't remember if I had for example discord open on the second monitor and starts cramming it onto my main monitor, windows 10 for example always remembered where and what apps I had left on and open on the base of the

Windows & desktop icons on secondary monitor are moved to primary monitor after standby

I had been using 2 monitors with the same resolution (1280x1024) without issues. I recently replaced my primary monitor with a 1920x1080 monitor. Every time the system wakes up from standby everything from the secondary monitor is moved to the primary monitor.
Strangely enough, the desktop icons and the windows (explorer & applications) are not always moved.

I have already tried to delete corrupted registry entries as stated in
this thread. There were 3 monitors listed with different resolutions. That did nothing.

System specs:

OS: Windows 7 pro (64-bit)

Video card: AMD R7 260X

primary monitor cable: DVI

secondary monitor cable: DVI output -> VGA adaptor

 

Desktop icons move to primary monitor after connecting external monitor

Original title: Desktop icons move

After I arrange my desktop icons on my laptop, everything is fine until I plug in an external monitor. Then all icons move to the right of my laptop screen which is my primary display. How do I correct this problem so that icons DO NOT move with an external
monitor attached?

That's because your resolution is changing each time. To test, try setting to 1024x768, arrange a couple of icons and then restart the PC. As long as the resolution after startup is still 1024x768, then the icons won't move. Trust me. *Wink
