Windows 10: Icons Missing on Desktop, Taskbar and Files after Windows Update. I also can no longer open...

Updated windows today and all my drivers as my laptop was running a bit hot when charging and sometimes those fix the issue outside of cleaning and wear and tear. Fortunately it did, but it has given me one of my worst issues I have come across as I have tried nearly every fix around. My icons are all corrupted/missing on my desktop taskbar, and file explorer. If I open settings and view my default apps etc they are all there though. This is extremely frustrating and if it doesn't get fixed I will just go back to Linux. I would attach an image of what the icons look like but i keep getting fai

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

ALL icons missing/blank (desktop, taskbar, explorer)

Hi all,

• - Had the laptop hooked up to the TV last night via HDMI
  - Unplugged, then closed lid - putting it to sleep
  - Turned on today, no icons whatsoever.
  
  
  - Tried restarting the laptop
  - Tried restarting 'explorer.exe'

Any tips for getting them back? It's annoying the hell out of me!

When I open the explorer when uploading or downloading something, the icons are there..

Missing Desktop icons, taskbar icons changed

This morning when I booted up my desktop, all of my icons on the desktop were missing, although the shortcut is still there and works. The icons in the taskbar now have a generic looking icon. Right clicking on the start menu no longer brings up the menu and when I go to file explorer no icons appear.

How can I get these things back? Everything was working fine yesterday when I logged off and it didn't appeared to have an update.

Please help.
