    Icons Switched To Secondary display


    I have Windows 10, version 21H1 on my desktop and I'm using two monitors. My icons have switched to my secondary display. How can I move them back to my primary?

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    1. Are you aware of any changes being made to the PC?
    2. Which version of Windows 10 you are using currently?
    3. Are you using a HDMI cable or a VGA cable to connect the display?
    4. How are you re-arranging the icons?
    5. Have you tried connecting the display first and then switching on the PC?


    I suggest you to try the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.



    Method 1:



    Try aligning the icons to grid.



    1. Right click on the desktop and click on View.
    2. Now click on auto arrange icons and click on
      align icons to grid.


    Method 2:



    Try updating the display and monitor drivers. Refer the article
    update drivers in Windows 10    .

    Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

    Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

    Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

    Icons Switched To Secondary display

    any permanent solution to all the icons jumping to secondary display?


    ?? at random times I will go to the desktop and all the icons will be swapped on displays..I can move them back using the old ctrl-p mouse wheel trick, but it's quite annoying.. stuff still opens like it should (the 2 icons I have on secondary display open on the secondary even when they are swapped and the icons are shown on the primary)

    I've checked and primary is SET as primary in both windows and in the NV cpl.. no 3rd party apps for desktop or icons
