Windows 10: ICS Internet Connection Sharing Automatic Port Forwarding Windows 10 uPnP?

I'm trying to setup port forwarding on an Internet Connection Sharing connection. I have a device connected to my Windows 10 computer and it's getting internet from the ICS. I need to forward over 20,000+ ports so manually inputting each of them is not feasible, and ideally it would automatically add the ports as they are being used from the device.

From the research that I've done uPnP would do this automatic port forwarding for me, but I've read that it's been disabled on Windows 10 for ICS. Is there anyway to re-enable this? Or is there a way to easily add a port range for forwarding for the ICS connection?

Any help would be much appreciated.

ICS (Internet connection sharing) dosent work in Windows 10 1607

For me, ICS recently broke on 1703 a while ago.

Down to «Error 1753: There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper. ».

I've migrated to 1709 - and for a couple of days it worked normally. Now, it's broken again.

There's a chance that some common update package causes this on all versions. But I've not tried to find it yet.

Non of them looks 100% perfect for me, so I've created one more:

Please consider upvoting, adding screenshot, your reproductions and etc if you want this fixed.

Personally, I was able to fix this by resetting firewall rules, as suggested in

Problems with Internet Connection Sharing after 2017-11 Windows 10 Update [Temporary fix found].

Simply do "Start -> type 'firewall' -> restore default policy" (consider creating a backup with "export Policy" before erasing it).

I'm not sure, maybe the issue would be back in a couple of days....

 

Gaming: UPnP or Port Forwarding

port forwarding locks it to the one IP address, so if you use multiple PC's or have IP addresses that change, they wont work.

UPNP is designed so that it forwards and unforwards as-needed, preventing that issue.


That said, UPNP doesnt always work well, so port forwards are the more reliable option.

 

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) doesn't work automatically

We have a small network (4 PC), and all computers see each other. One PC is Win10, and the others are Win7. Win10 PC has Internet connection shared through Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), but the other PC's don't have Internet. When we open services.msc
and look at the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) we see that status is running and startup type is set to automatic. When we STOP and after that START the service all other PC's have Internet.

Why do we need to manually stop/start the ICS service in order for all PC's to have Internet ?
