    It's just because ics service is not starting automatically.Solution Press Windows + R key.Type services.mscA new window will pop up.Find Internet Connection Sharing.Right click and go to properties.Change Startup type to automatic.Under Service status click start if it shows Stopped.#mrgargsir

    Hi,

    thanks for replying, I went through the above mentioned steps, but ICS still does not start automatically,

    I have to manually start the service everytime i restart the PC. screenshot is attached

    Now it appears that the problem lies with the automatic startup of ICS.

    ICS (Internet connection sharing) dosent work in Windows 10 1607

    Tried it right now... It didn't help at all... There is no ICS traffic after restart until I disable and re-enable sharing in the Network Interface properties...

    However, the list of rules in Windows Firewall is now much tidier... It got filled with a lot of stuff over the years...

    I must add that for me ICS does not "stop working", does not "gets stuck in starting phase" and does not "freeze while starting"... It just doesn't keep working after a computer restart... After I disable/re-enable connection sharing, it works flawlessly
    for weeks (My PC is on 24/7)...

    Also, every time I re-enable sharing, it adds a new set of ICS rules to the firewall, even though they are already there... After many restarts, there are many identical copies of each rule...

    This could be related to the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service is not set to run automatically when your system starts. Kindly check the service and set it to
    Automatic. Follow the steps below:

    1. Press the Windows key to launch the Start menu.
    2. Type in Services.msc in the search bar and press Enter.
    3. Under Services (Local), look for Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and double click on it.
    4. Under General tab, change the option to Automatic
      next to the Startup type option.
    5. Hit Apply to save changes.

    Let me know how it goes.
