Idea for external displays in Windows 11

I have a laptop and a monitor, they are the same resolution but one is 32 inches and the other one is 15 inches. When I plug the monitor in and extend my display from the laptop, then they don't align because of the size difference. My idea is that you can go into settings, click on a display and type in how many inches big the display is instead of messing with the resolution, which is impractical. I hope this is possible and will get added in one of the near updates for Windows 11.

    :)

    Projecting to an external display

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Windows 10.

I understand that you are unable to use external display with windows 10.

This usually occurs if the video driver was not installed properly or not configured correctly.so I would suggest you to reinstall the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and see if it helps:

    Uninstall Display Adapter drivers

I suggest you to uninstall the display drivers and reinstall them in compatibility mode.

To uninstall the driver, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + R
    • Type devmgmt.msc
    • Right click on the driver you want to uninstall
    • Click on Uninstall
    • Restart the system
After the computer restarts, install the driver in compatibility mode.

    • Select the setup file
    • Right click on it and click on
      properties
    • Click on Compatibility tab
    • Select the operating system
    • Click Ok.
Hope it helps, do get back to us if you need further assistance with Windows.

    Projecting to an external display

    Hi,

When the computer restarts the driver re-installs its self. and also how would I go about going into compatability mode. Would this be through internet explorer?

Any insite on this would be a great help.

    Best Regards,

Windows 11 Issues with Multiple External Displays

    Hello,

I have a Surface Pro 7+ running Windows 11 Professional (x64) Version 23H2 (build 22631.3810), with two external HDMI displays attached via USB hub.

Over the last month, the system has developed the annoying habit of blacking out one of the external displays (at a time, never both at the same time, and not always the same display). It's as if the power is dropped for that one external display. The display for the SP itself is never affected; it always stays on when this happens. It's only the external displays that are affected, and only one at a time.

As troubleshooting steps, I have unplugged one external display at a time from the USB hub so that there is only one active external display rather than two (plus the SP display), and the failures stop. In other words, the system is able to consistently drive one external display but not two. I have also swapped the HDMI connections at the USB hub, but this changes nothing. The system still drops one external display at a time when running two, and works fine when running either one of the two external displays. In my mind, these steps rule out the USB hub as the potential cause.

This is also definitely not a display power issue. It's a Windows issue. The reason why I know this is that the only certain and predictable way to reactivate the blacked out display is to type Windows-d-i-s-Enter in order to bring up the Windows Display settings (even if on the blacked out display). I do not need to make any changes in the settings. I just need to type those keystrokes, and the blacked out display comes back on (at least until the next time it blacks out).

Are there any solutions short of my having to create a new user profile and thus having to effectively do an entire rebuild to recreate my work environment?

    Thank you,

    Kalon
