Identifying Malicious Background Processes What to Keep and What to Remove

Good Morning Microsoft Support, After going through my Task Manager, I have noticed a few irregular processes running in the background or suspended. This made me wonder if there is an existing resource or guide on how to identify which processes are malicious, and which are not. I have listed a few specific processes that I have identified, and would like advice. Program 1: WebCompanion.exe by LavaSoft Program 2: Video.UI.exe no Author This program is especially suspicious because under the security tab of properties, there are two sections that say "Account Unknown"

    :)

Can someone identify this background process?

Hi, I'm just going through my background processes in Task Manager and there is something I cannot identify and Google search resulted in nothing; the name of the process is SHA1:0xaf1a342b, I was suspecting I have some kind of a keylogger, could this be
    related?

    Remove HackTool:Win32/AutoKMS

A thought, Catherine. I'd like you to check in your list of installed programs, to see if there's anything that appears to be related to that hack tool.

If there is, I suggest you download Revo Uninstaller and choose to uninstall it. It'll clear out all remnants, both in the registry and folders. Revo
    Uninstaller Free
Careful when deleting the registry entries listed, to ONLY delete those in
    bold.

Either way, I'd run each of those removal apps again in those steps at the link I provided. It's important to follow every step. It just seems odd that hasn't been removed yet. In case there's a malicious app running in background, which can prevent removal,
run this small app first to kill the process. RKill
