  1. IE issue - unable to export the report from IE 11 in excel

    Hi all,

I have an issue exporting reports from IE 11 to excel.

    Configuration:

    OS Version: Windows 10

    Browser version: IE 11

Web Application: Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Workspace

    MS Excel version: Office 365 v 16.0

    Steps to reproduce the Issue:

    1. Open Internet explorer

    2. Login to Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Workspace https://oracleepmurl/workspace/index.jsp

    3. Load a Financial Report from within workspace

    4. Once the report is loaded, click on the 'Export to Query ready mode' link

IE issue - unable to export the report from IE 11 in excel d9367722-e22c-429d-a2c5-5db65126fbc9?upload=true.png

    5. The browser then makes a call to the Oracle Smart view utility that is installed on the system.

    6. Currently the issue is that it only opens a blank excel. The expected functionality is that it should load the same report in excel

    What have I tried already:

    1. I have validated all the IE settings that is required for this to work

    2. I have tried performing the same steps on my personal laptop where I don't have a lot of system and/or group policy restrictions and it exports the report in excel without any issues.

    Question:

    1. What could be the potential reason for it to not work from the company provided laptop?

    2. Are there group policy settings that might be preventing the report from getting exported on the company laptop?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    :)

Export All Administrative Events to Excel

To analyze events, from the Windows Event Viewer, there is a simple way to export all Administrative Events to Excel, with PowerShell.

Exporting all Administrative Events to Excel is a simple two Step process, as described here:

Step 1 - Create the Administrative Events View .xml file
    1. Open Eventviewer (%windir%\system32\eventvwr.msc)
    2. Navigate to: Event Viewer (Local) > Custom Views > Administrative Events
    3. In the “Actions” pane select “Filter Current Custom View”.
    4. Select the the XML tab.
    5. Press Ctrl+A to select all the XML code of the Custom View.
    6. Open a notepad, paste the selected code and save the file to your Desktop as AdmEvtView.xml

Step 2 - Create the csv file with the events
    1. Download the ExportEvtCSV.zip file, which contains the script ExportEvtCSV.ps1 and unzip it, on your Desktop.
It's not a fancy script, just basic PowerShell commands to create a csv file on the Desktop.
    2. In Windows Search, type “ISE” (without the quotes) to open “Windows PowerShell ISE” and Run as administrator
    3. To allow running the script, change the ExecutionPolicy, for this session. To do that, in the Console pane type:
      Code:
    4. In the Windows PowerShell ISE, open and run the script: ExportEvtCSV.ps1
The script will create a csv file with a name YYYYMMDD.HHMM.csv on the Desktop
    5. When done, open the newly created .csv file, format the columns as needed and optionally save it as .xlsx, if you wish.
That’s it! You now have all the Administrative Events in Excel for filtering and further analysis. IE issue - unable to export the report from IE 11 in excel :)

Now to the more technical hard stuff... *Confused

There is a reason for running the script from within PowerShell ISE!

It would be great if everything was also working perfectly, when running the script from an elevated PowerShell too.

We can run it from an elevated PowerShell, which means that you just follow the Step 1, as above but for the Step 2 instead of the ISE you run the script from an elevated PowerShell.

The problem is that it will work only for anybody who has en-US format for the dates. Everyone else, who has another format (i.e. en-GB, fr-FR, el-GR etc.), the dates are not translated properly by Excel (although the script uses the –UseCulture switch) and remain as text in the en-US format.

I'm not sure if this a bug of the "export-csv" cmdlet, but although it runs the way it supposed to from within the ISE, from PowerShell there is a problem with the dates format.
As I haven’t found a way to overcome this obstacle, any suggestion from the PowerShell gurus of the forum (like my good friend Shawn @Brink, for instance), is welcome.

  3. ActiveX issue with excel

I'm getting ActiveX error while exporting a report to Excel from an Application. The error message is as below

Excel returned an error while downloading the template:

Unable to get the Open property of the Workbooks class(Microsoft Excel)

Please close any running copies of Excel, return to analytical report, and try to export again.

Also, I'm receiving a SSL certificate error.

Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

  4. IE issue - unable to export the report from IE 11 in excel

Crystal report hyperlinks are not working in internet Explorer 11 on windows 10

We are using the Crystal Report Viewer Control (32-bit version 9.2.0690 Crystal Decisions Inc.) and hyperlinks on the reports do not work (while in the viewer) on Windows 10 and IE 11. The web site is being displayed in compatibility view. The hyperlinks work
fine on Windows 7 IE 11. If the report is exported from the report viewer to Excel or PDF the hyperlinks work on the exported reports. All IE browser settings have been set to what is recommended when using this report viewer control. Another thread was
initiated a year ago regarding the exact same issue, but the thread was closed without any solution.
