Windows 10: If hit a snag with Definition Update in WU on 27/4

If you hit an error when updating Defender definition April 27th, do this:> PowerShell OR Windows Terminal.type cd.. hit entertype cd.. hit entertype Update-MpSignatureWhen complete it will not be listed with Definition Updates in Update History. The next one via WU tomorrow will be listed.Cheers,Drew

WU Counting Defender Definitions

Just wondering if anyone has noticed this or if I'm being "Windozed".

Those of us using Windows Defender are aware that with v1803, Windows Update once again lists installed definition updates and keeps a running total -- just as WU does with all the other types of updates.

Apparently, at least on my system, the running count for installed Defender definitions stops at 50. I reached that number several days ago. Subsequent definition updates do show up as installed, but the count remains the same -- 50.

Makes no sense if it's by design. *Huh

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

I have literally just installed the definition update KB2267602 without any problem. I suggest as a first step checking all the Windows Defender settings to make sure they all have the 'green ticks' in each section.






ps. The only reason the 'Family Options' is not ticked is because I am the only user on my computer.

I also would suggest running the 'Troubleshoot' feature in the Update & Security settings which has a section dealing with update problems.
