  1. if I delete my microsoft account, should I suspend bitlocker first

My email addresses used in my Microsoft account were stolen in a company IT attack. I have tried to change the email addresses used in my MS Acct as they will soon be deleted from my mail utility. Of course I cannot make this change, even though Microsoft provides detailed instructions on how to do so. So, my only recourse is to delete my MS Account and establish a new MS Acct with new email credentials. MS warns that doing so may make it impossible to use my computer ever again, a vague and ominous warning. If I suspend Bitlocker, will this avert the possibility of being unable to acces

Need to turn off Bitlocker to install Windows 10

    Hi,

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

    • You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
    • The drive must be BitLocker-protected.
To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

    • Click Start, click Control Panel, click
System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
    • Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
    • A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
    • Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.

Let us know how it goes.

    Bitlocker status when suspended?

This might sound a bit silly, but bear with me.

I have bitlocker installed on my laptop, which was stolen yesterday.

There was an issue the other month where for some reason bitlocker suspended itself and I had to manually restart it.

If I go to my devices on the Microsoft account site, "BitLocker data protection" lists shows "bitlocker: on" - I just want to confirm that really means on, if it was suspended would it then show as suspended?

Just want to try and put my mind at rest, thanks!

    Bitlocker status when suspended?

    Hello,

IMO, the BitLocker won't suspend itself unless you command Windows to do so.

If it is showing ON status atm, I believe the data on stolen system is still encrypted and safe.

I hope you've reported this to local police so that they may track your laptop and help you to get it back asap.

    Regards.
