Last year I bought a Lenovo Flex 5 15" laptop from Lenovo.com


From time to time it seems to slow down to a stand still. I have reset the PC multiple times (thinking it was something I installed), but it still seems laggy and slow. There is another option under "Reset my PC", which is the "Remove all files and clean the drive" option, to be used if I was to sell/recycle the PC.


My question is, if I choose this option, will I be able to re-install Windows 10 on the laptop? When I purchased it from Lenovo, the Windows 10 OS came with it, so I don't really have an account key or anything, and the normal reset options allow you to reinstall Windows 10 fresh.


So will I be able to reinstall Windows 10 after a "drive clean", or should I not use this option?

Need to clean laptop HDD - would this be sufficient?

I have a laptop drive that I need to clean as I will be selling it along with the laptop. I can open the laptop, place the drive in a desktop and then format/clean but would prefer not to as it is a bit complicated to take it apart. I plan on wiping the drive of all data with cleaning software and then reinstall Win 10.

I am wondering if this would be sufficient to clean all data off the drive:

- Do a full re-install of Win 10 via bootable media. All of the other non-OS data will be deleted (but the data will still be on the HDD).

- Load CCleaner and run the Drive Wiper utility and wipe "Free Space Only" as shown here:

That should wipe all of the data that was deleted and not allocated to the new install of Win 10.

Do you think that will be sufficient to fully and permanently clean all data off the drive? Or is it still recommended to fully wipe the entire drive prior to re-installing Win 10?

I suggest creating a backup image of your os drive

 

Reinstalling Windows 10 to sell a PC - is the 'Remove everything' option enough?

Restore factory settings do list Removes your personal files, apps and settings, and reinstalls the version of Windows that came on this PC.

So if this isn't true well than just erase the drive and install a clean Windows 10 with all the drivers u need but why should it be true
