Windows 10: If I reset my pc and decide to keep files will it do anything to other drives like D or E...

If I reset my pc and press keep my files, will it delete or change any files or folders in the E or D drives? I have a lot of stuff saved on those drives I’m afraid I might lose those files.

PC Reset

Hi, community

I want to reset my PC now, it gives me two options, to keep files or remove them. So I am thinking to remove them, but I don't have a backup disk.

I currently have 3 partitions, drive C, D, E.

Drive C was where the system installed, D was my files including Visual Studio projects, programs, and games, and E drive was where I install my apps (it's something like program files)

So, if I choose to reset the PC and remove the files, will the files on the drive D removed? If so, I will just make a backup on the D.

After the reset, will I still have the option to go back to the previous version of Windows?(I upgraded from Windows 8.1).

And will the E partition still exist after the reset?

Resetting Computer with Multiple Hard Drives?

Hey all,

Just a quick question. My computer has three hard drives:

• An 128GB SSD as C:\ for Windows 10 and essential applications (Visual Studio, Office, etc)
• An 700GB SSD as D:\ for nonessential applications and games
• A 2TB platter HDD as E:\ for general file storage.

My computer has been running a bit weird lately (especially since I had a RAM stick go bad about a month ago) and so I just want to reset the C drive. My intention is to use the following steps:

• Settings > Update & Security > Recovery
• Click Get Started under Reset this PC
• Click Remove Everything
• Erase quicky (since I'm not trading this PC in)

So, my question is, if I do this will it format all three drives or will it only affect my C drive? I just want to know if I should disconnect my E drive before restoring my PC.
