I'm using Windows 10 and I have turned off/disabled the Windows Update/its service. I'm just wondering, will this cause any potential problems? This seems to be different compared to Windows 7, as in Windows 7 we just disable the automatic updating but in Windows 10 this option is not available and we have to disable the entire Windows Update service (the setting "Startup Type" has been set to Disabled). This made me curious, if I replace future hardware with new ones (such as monitor/keyboard/mouse/printer/etc.), will my computer be able to download device drivers to enable me to use the new hardware if Windows Update is disabled/not programmed to start at all? Hopefully it won't cause any problems regrading this issue.

    :)

    Windows 10 forced download

Turn "BITS" service to off or disabled & windows update to manual. Whenever you want to update windows, security &/or optional patches, just turn on "BITS" & start Windows update service & let OS do the rest. You might have to uncheck anything win10 related manually if it's in the download list.

Turning BITS off is the easiest way to save your bandwidth, even if you have ample amounts of it.

    Windows 10 forced download

I actually had a client call yesterday with an email problem. when I tried walking him through some steps, he says "Yeah, I don't see that there, but I think it's because it's updated to windows 10. It did that a few weeks ago. I came back in on Monday, and it said Welcome to Windows 10"..... I think I'd throw the computer out the window.

    Windows 10 download speed issues

    Try this method:
    • First of all from Start Menu, open Settings (Type settings in the search bar and it will appear).
    • locate and select “Update and Security“.
    • in this window, Locate “Advanced Options”. Click on it.
    • In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
    • Turn off Updates from more than one place.
Your system will not work as a seeder for other Windows 10 users. It will give sudden boast to your Slow internet speed.
