Compatabilty issues with older games. IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Follow the steps:

• Right click on the game installation file and select Properties then click the Compatibility tab.
• Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.
• Tap the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then click OK.
• Try installing the game and check.

None of the above worked for me. I am running Windows 10 on a Dell Desktop, using Intel Core running at 3.4GHz, with 8Gb RAM. Installing on a WIndows 7 machine and moving, as suggested elsewhere, is not an option for me.

So, any more ideas out there to help me get this ILS Sturmovik Series, Complete Edition up and running? This is the first game I have bought and thought it would be good for Christmas downtime but now it seems I am shot down before take off (which is a bit
of an oxymoron, I think).

All fixes, ideas, theories would be welcome.

A proper fix from Microsoft rather than repeating the compatibility mode option would be ideal.

Compatabilty issues with older games. IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Here's what I have had to do to get it to work for me.

Install the game as normal. install on an older computer (XP/VISTA/WINN 7)

Open the installation drive, find the main IL@ folder, drag and drop on to

a large capacity thumb drive (I used a 16gb from best buy)

Plug thumb into your new pc, open thumb drive. Open installation drive on win10

pc, Create folder for install:

C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Drag and drop entire il2 folder from thumb drive. Click the exe to install.

Make sure you have the dvd in the drive as it will not work with out it.

Problem: Windows 10 is not backwards compatible with the Older versions of

DirectX.

This bypasses the check from IL2 for DirectX 10.

 

Internet Explorer 11; Windows 10....Stopped Working

IE11; Windows 10. For the past 2 weeks when I open IE11 I get Internet Explorer has Stopped working POPUP message rendering IE 11 unusable.

I have followed suggested Fixes by "Resetting" IE11; Use Software Rendering...is NOT checked. I have tried to use "System Restore" and go back to a Restore Point prior to 2 weeks but, I get unable to restore to xx/xx/xxxx because the process cannot file iexplorer.exe.

I have tried several Restore Points...get this same result.

I cannot fine the Internet 11 Install Update to delete it as it is not in the list History\Installed Updates.

Surely there must be away to fix IE 11...I have run out of things to do...suggestions with steps will be appreciated.
