    IL2-Sturmovik in CD format dated 2001 does not install on my PC that runs Windows 10.


    I try to install the game IL2-Sturmovik in CD format dated 2001 on my PC that runs Windows 10 without success. The installation doesn't even start. I try to install from the CD in the drive. It seems that the setup.exe file starts up, but then nothing happens. When I check the Task Manager, only the SetupUbi.exe file is running. I have tried many things in the compatibility section of the files properties both for setup.exe and SetupUbi.exe files but without success. The overall result is that the installation doesn't start at all! Can somebody help?**Moved from Gaming and Xbox / Games and g

    Compatabilty issues with older games. IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

    Here's what I have had to do to get it to work for me.

    Install the game as normal. install on an older computer (XP/VISTA/WINN 7)

    Open the installation drive, find the main IL@ folder, drag and drop on to

    a large capacity thumb drive (I used a 16gb from best buy)

    Plug thumb into your new pc, open thumb drive. Open installation drive on win10

    pc, Create folder for install:

    C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

    Drag and drop entire il2 folder from thumb drive. Click the exe to install.

    Make sure you have the dvd in the drive as it will not work with out it.

    Problem: Windows 10 is not backwards compatible with the Older versions of

    DirectX.

    This bypasses the check from IL2 for DirectX 10.

    Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

    I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
