    Illegitimate key

So I received a key for home and I used it to activate my pc. When I was activating it, it said to change to my organizations activation service. I pressed activate without thinking. How can I revert this mistake and get a legit windows 10 copy?

    :)

  2. Illegitimate license key

I bought a Windows 10 pro product key off of a website called G2Deal for an insanely cheap price that I couldn't pass up at the time. A friend who is more informed about these kinds of things said that the key is almost definitely an illegitimate one.

I apparently clicked yes on the setting that asked if I wanted to link my MS account with my Windows product key and would like to know how to remove the illegitimate product key from my MS account.

How to remove illegitimate windows product key embedded in BIOS/UEFI?

    Hi Automaton94

Once you installed Windows 10 that key would have replaced the illegitimate key

How to remove illegitimate windows product key embedded in BIOS/UEFI?

    Okay, thanks for the help!

Maybe I did install a legitimate version down the line and just forgot completely about it...

If I bought a new product key, and used the "change your product key" thing in Windows, and linked that new product key to a Microsoft account, would that overwrite the potentially illegitimate old key that's currently linked to my hardware? Or does that
only overwrite keys that are linked to an online Microsoft account?

In other words, if I bought a legit product key and changed it to that in Windows, would it remain as the new legit prodcut key, or is there a chance I'd restart my computer and it'd register it via the hardware as the old, possibly illegitimate product
    key?
