  1. Illogical multiple display problem

I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 15. I use this primarily for a desktop with a need for some portability, so I purchased a Belkin thunderbolt 3+ docking station, understanding from its literature that it should support two external monitors in addition to the machine’s display. I had previously had this configuration working for two generations of Windows 10 computers — five plus years — with different docking stations and computers. Working with Samsung and Belkin tech support, the conclusion was that we needed to use at least one active displayport 1.4 cable and should still be able to use one normal display port cable. We have now tried multiple configurations, never able to achieve more than one monitor receving singal, even though the “display settings” reports three monitors computer plus two external. Here are the configurations:

    1. Basic: thunderbolt to belkin dock, standard displayport cable to each of two external monitors from appropriate ports on teh belkin dock
      1. result: “display settings” indicates three monitors, indicated as 1,2,3; however, only 1 & 2 receive signal and have actual display, “identify” only shows monitors 1 & 2
    2. Advance 1: same configuration except cable to monitor 3 is switched to an active displayport 1.4 cable as recommended by both belkin and samsung
      1. result: no change in results — repeated with new cables and shifting dock port locations, results consistent each time
    3. Advance 2: same configuration, both external monitors are connected with active displayport 1.4 cables
      1. result: all monitors show up on the “display settings” screen, but no signal to either external monitor
    4. Advance 3: original configuration but substitute direct USB-C to displayport cable to monitor 3
      1. result: all monitors show up on the “display settings” screen, but no signal to monitor 3

All forms of variations on these configurations, including replacing the cables, yielded similar results. All componenets were tested multiple times and confirmed as fully functional. In short, no configuration yielded anything more than the computer and one monitor operating properly. No configuration resulted in two external monitors working properly at the same time, even though the software says they are connected. No logical explanation of this problem comes to mind.

    :)
