I am connected to the Internet on my desktop however it’s not able to connect to any website. Something is blocking it. I’ve tried the firewall and I’ve tried proxy to no avail. Do you have any solution to this issue?

  2. Avast VPN blocking Internet connection

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the issue description you are unable to access internet sites after enabling Avast VPN on your system. This could be if your security software is restricting it to get connected or accessing internet.

So, I would suggest you to Disable Security software temporarily
and see if it brings any difference.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you
have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If issue persists, try the steps provided below and see if it helps you to fix the issue.

    Method 1

As you are unable to open some websites then, there might be a chance that the website is not compatible to Internet Explorer. So, I would suggest you to open those websites in compatibility view and see if it helps.

    • Open Internet Explorer.

    • Open website which is getting blocked.

    • Press alt key to open tool bar.

    • Now click on tools.

    • Then click on Compatibility view settings.

    • You will see the name of website
under Add this website, so click on add
      to add this website.

    • Close the window and restart your computer.

Try the below mentioned methods and see if it helps you to fix the issue.

    Method 2

If issue still persists you may try to trust those websites by following the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Open the trusted sites

    • Open Internet Explorer.
    • Press the Alt key to make the tools menu visible.
    • In the menu, click Tools.
    • Now click Internet Options.
    • Go to the Security tab.
    • Select Trusted sites.
    • Click Sites.

I’m connected to the Internet, but something is blocking like getting through to the... [IMG]

    Step 2:

    Add the trusted website

    • Enter the address of the website you would like to add.
    • Click Add.
    • Close the opened Trusted Sites and Internet Options
      windows.

I’m connected to the Internet, but something is blocking like getting through to the... [IMG]

Hope this would help. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be happy to assist you.

    Regards,

  3. Internet connectivity

Thank you for sharing more details. We would like to verify you are using the Windows Defender Firewall so we can isolate the issue. In some instances, the firewall is blocking the internet connection when using certain apps. At the same time, we also suggest
the following methods below for initial troubleshooting.

Step 1: Run the Windows App Troubleshooter. The troubleshooter can help identify
    and repair problems automatically.

Step 2: Modify the connection settings in the Internet Options.

    • In the Windows search bar, type Internet Options.
    • In the Internet Options window, go to the Connections
      tab.
    • Under the Proxy server section, untick the Use a proxy server for your LAN.
    • Click OK then Apply and OK
      again to save changes.
    • Launch the apps and check if you are able to connect to the internet.

After following these basic steps, let us know the outcome so we can give you additional help.

    Kind regards.

Win10 connect internet fine, but cant ping any sites and blocking steam connection

    Hi Mehmet,

For us to isolate this issue, we'd like to get the following information:

    • Are you getting any sort of error codes/messages? If so, kindly provide us the exact error message you're getting.
    • Have you tried contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) regarding this? If you have, were you given an update or steps to resolve the issue?

Regarding your Steam issue, it can be either the port(s) that Steam uses are being blocked on your router, or, your ISP is blocking the server. It's evident that it's the connection itself, and not your PC software/hardware that's causing the issue.

Provide us an update on the progress of your concern.
