I'm getting the "This sign-in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns." screen when I log into my laptop, after it restarted a few times without me logging in.When I go to "I forgoymt my PIN", and try to reset it the Verification code doesn’t get sent to my email.I'm gotten other verification codes to this email before and after this issue for other things. Rebooting in Safe Mode with Command Prompt solutions don’t work, as the Command Prompt screen doesn’t pop up.I've restored my computer to before the issue. "This sign-in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns".

We are regularly getting the following error message on one of our devices:

"This sign-in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns. Use a difference sign-in option or keep your device powered on for at least 2 hours and then try again."

We do not have any other sign in option available to us on the device, and so are having to wait for 2 hours each time the message appears which results in the computer being unusable for a significant amount of time.

We are not repeatedly entering the password, as suggested by the error message, this message is appearing when we initially start up the computer. The computer is shutdown correctly at the end of the day, and not multiple times as suggested by the error message.

This error message seems to be appearing on our device several times throughout the week.

I switch on the computer and put in my pin code. I get the message ' This sign in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns. Use a different sign-in option or keep your device powered on for at least two hours and then try again'. The computer uses Windows 11. I've spoken to Dell who say it is a Microsoft issue, but I don't know who to contact and the troubleshooting page on Microsoft doesn't help either. This first happened two days ago. After keeping the computer powered on for two hours I was able to sign-in. Having switched off the computer at the mains, I am now unable to sign-in again today. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
