This is painful. I've reached a point that a 100 chimpanzees on keyboards would get to, I've simply recorded steps that have worked in a sequence:

I can successfully view available wireless networks by following these steps, but cannot connect

*device manager uninstall Intel Wifi Adaptor (no delete software)

*device manager actions scan for new hardware

*Boom! Wifi now exists in settings

    *Settings click "change adapter options"

*This takes me to network connections with the Wi-Fi icon

*right click wi-Fi icon disable / enable

*now I can see available wifi options, but cannot successfully connect

    PC stats:

Running a freshly updated Win 10

CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor Motherboard: ASRock H77M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: NVIDIA 1050 TI PCI slot number 2 Wifi Card: Gigabyte GC-Wbax200 2x2 802.11Ax Dual Band WiFi + Bluetooth 5 PCIe Expansion Card PCI slot number 1 Power Supply: SeaSonic G 550W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($7

What to get as a Wifi receiver for my desktop?

I've been parusing Ebay for various wifi adaptors but I need some clarification on what I should get.
    I'm looking at PCI, PCI-E, USB Dongle(Mini & Ultra Mini), 50mbps, 150mbps etc.

I presume that for gaming, videos and the usual nonsence I'm into I would be best going for a PCI-E, 150mbps wifi card, however, the USB dongles are dirt cheap and claim to do 150mbps.

Do these cards/dongles work as advertised? Does one format work better than another?

    What would you suggest.
    Tom.

  3. I'm trying to burn a data DVD and I'm having to jump through more and more hoops. This is pathetic!!!

    Original title:

Updated versions of Windows (moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10) should show improvement. The simplest tasks are more difficult. I'm trying to burn a data DVD and I'm having to jump through more and more hoops. This is pathetic!!! I have a business to run.
That business requires time and attention. I can't focus on business because I'm having to figure out simple things to do. This shouldn't happen this way. I will go back to Windows 7 is there is a way. I have clients waiting on me. I have money to make but
    can't because I can't prepare data. JUNK!

Cannot install Windows 10 due to wifi adaptor

    Hi Nigel,

Thank you for posting your response.

As you have stated that your computer is stuck in the splash screen after the first boot, I would suggest that you power down your computer and then restart the system and check. To do so follow the steps below.

    • Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power cord.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 30sec
    • Plug the charger/power cord and restart system

if you roll back to the previous Window, you can also try to install the latest drivers for your wifi adaptor and check if it helps you proceed with the installation. The above issue that you are facing is due to the wifi adaptor, and I recommend that
you contact the manufacturer of the device that is Broadcom to check for compatibility.

    Hope this helps
