Hello, I started having this audio issue after the latest update, Windows 10 version 1909.

When I plug in my speaker (Edifier E10) to my laptop (Samsung Odyssey), the laptop internal speaker is still playing the sound, and my speaker only works if I switch the playback device to "headphone (Realtak(R) Audio), as shown in the image. This never happened before the latest update, and I really don't know what should I do.

Before, when I plugged my audio jack into laptop, audio cuts off from internal speaker, and comes out from the speaker at table, but playback device is still "speakers". That's how it should be, I think. But all of sudden it appears as a headphone, and because of this, my audio settings for applications like FL Studio, are messed up.

I am not a tech savvy, and I couldn't search a good keyword or sentence for my problem OR find good answers from internet other than "try unplugging and plugging again"... So I'm asking here, seeking for help.

Do I have to roll back audio driver? Or can it be switched back to usual by changing settings somewhere? PLEASE HELP I'm seeking for help! My desk speaker is now recognized as "headphone" :((( (this is not the first time I'm having issues with Windows 10. Last time I got so annoyed with that "High volume can cause hearing loss, allow" stuff, and sent so many feedbacks but never got replied I'm seeking for help! My desk speaker is now recognized as "headphone" :(

  2. Headphones recognized as Speakers...

    Hi Ahri,

Having your headphones recognized as speaker when plugged in at the back of your PC could be the reason why the audio is low. To help us isolate the problem, we suggest running first the audio troubleshooter from the link Fix
    sound problems
    .

In case the issue persists, then let's remap or retask your Realtek audio jack and see if it addresses the issue. To do that, follow the steps below:

    • Open the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
    • In the back panel, right click the option where your headphone is connected.
    • Choose the option Connector Retasking, then select Headphone.

Feel free to update us with the result so we can further assist you.

    Regards.
