Windows 10: I’m setting it up and I get to the WiFi set up but all it shows is let’s connect you to...

I just bought a empowered pc now I’m setting it up and I get to the WiFi set up adapter is plugged in but it isn’t bringing up possible networks to join I have turned it off n back on unplugged n plugged back in adapter please help

Is it possible to set up a new manual wifi connection from the command line?

I'm trying to work out a solution to set up ad-hock wifi connections in Windows 8.1 based on the suggestions in a post on Micsrosoft's answers site. Is there any way to do the first few steps:

• go to "Network and Sharing Center"
  
• click "Set up a new connection or network"
  
• double click "Manually connect to a wireless network"
  
• enter the SSID of the ad-hoc network (as shown by "netsh wlan show networks") into the "Network name" field
  
• configure security settings accordingly
  
• uncheck "Start this connection automatically" (important)
  

...without using the windows dialogs?

 

Set Wireless Network as Metered or Non-Metered in Windows 10  

I found that after selecting wifi it shows a list of available connections and under need to select advanced settings and the metered selection is located their. and is not as the above tutorial.

 

WiFi settings not retained

I have been through the processes you have suggested and both network drivers are now up to date. the When I start the splash screen shows in the bottom right hand side that the Wifi connection is good but as soon as I login either as a user or as administrator
the Wifi is disconnected and requires the password to activate it. Once connected the network system is OK, surrounding WiFi signals are listed, secured or open, which suggests to me that the USB adaptor is working OK. The data shows that no errors are reported
and connections and disconnections are clearly shown as I login in as user or admin.
