    Chkdsk is stucked at stage 4

    I started a chkdsk check for my external hard drive by /f /r /x..

    Now at stage 4 its stucked.for 3 hours at the same point..what should i do? Should i remove the media? And if i remove the media,wl it have a bad effect on the media n data..my external hard disk was not read by the system all the time n it was taking very
    long to open files,and windows suggested a scan n fix..so i did a chkdsk..

    Its showing cluster check 28 of 31416.and is stucked.pls reply,what shud i do?

    My computer ran chkdsk at startup. It got to Stage 3: 100%; but now seems stuck

    My computer ran chkdsk at startup. It got to Stage 3: 100%; Total: 97%; ETA: 0:00:03 and has been stuck like that for an hour.

    Is this normal or too long? It's a 8Tb drive.

    I'm stuck in chkdsk Stage 3

    CHKDSK process stuck

    I started my pc and got a "Auto repair could not repair your pc" message. I started looking up for something to help and saw alot of articles with the same steps to take.

    After I did a few steps it didn't fix the repair issue. I continued with the steps and a CHKDSK was the next thing. I ran the command is it was instructed (chkdsk /r cI'm stuck in chkdsk Stage 3 :).

    Now it got stuck on

    Progress 60768 of 83696 done; Stage 72%; total 20%

    It's stuck like that for about 15min.

    How do I safely stop the process?
