Windows 10: I'm stuck on checking for updates in Windows 11

My computer is stuck on "checking for updates" and never gets past this point. I believe it hasn't updated in some time.I have tried troubleshooting, but that just gets stuck on "checking if a restart is needed".Please advise!

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.

 

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Windows Update Stuck at Checking for Updates

This may or may not be the same issue you are having, but it presented itself in a similar manner. I thought that Checking for Updates was stuck also, and tried a number of steps to resolve that issue, including the steps suggested by Jenicel, but nothing
was working. I tried running the WIndows Update Troubleshooter, and it was hanging on "Checking for pending restart" just as you said. I reran Check for Updates, and let it run until I eventually got the error message "There
were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800705b4)."

After some digging on this error, I went to "Advanced Options" in the Windows Update page and unchecked "Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows." I reran Check for Updates
and it now is in the process of downloading updates - they have not finished yet, so I can't be certain that this will resolve my issue, let alone yours, but you may want to give it a shot. Best of luck.
