Windows 10: I'm trying to replace a file in my C drive. Says "You need permission to perform this...

Hello. I'm trying to replace a .ini file of something I downloaded and its giving me the "You need permission to perform this action" message when I try. I've gone through the properties and made sure my account is the owner of the file and it still wont let me replace the file. At my wits end here

i accidently save something to c drive. when i try to delete it says need admin permission. how do i delete it?

i am on a computer that dont have any account only 1 and thats me. main one is me. 1 account.

I would suggest you to right click on the user's folder for your profile and check if the permissions shows as "read only'. If this is the case, it might be causing the issue. In this case, I would suggest you to go to C:\User folder, right click on the
folder with your username and follow these steps:

• Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
  
• Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
• Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
  

This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Try these steps and let us know the results for further assistance.

man this i a hassle. i tried like instructed from the link. went to user group to add admin and it just denied access. ill try the file assassin.

wow this is weird. i reboot and the file is gone! and hdd space is freed! i dont know how it happend but great!
