Windows 10: Im trying to use the gopro hero 5 as a web cam for streaming, Its not showing up anywhere I...

so I got a GoPro Hero 5 as a birthday present a couple of years ago and I've loved it and found many uses for it since. my most recent hobby has been live streaming on twitch and I would love to use it as a webcam, as well as a webcam for zoom calls due to the recent pandemic. I figured that since it can be used to display videos on a large screen through the cable, it would also be able to be a webcam.​

I bought a micro-HDMI to HDMI male to female adaptor and a display port to HDMI male to male adaptor for this webcam as I didn't have an open HDMI port at the time.


I plugged everything in and nothing happened, I expected to hear the sound it makes when a new device is detected but no sound. I look for the device in the camera app first and received an error saying "no device detected" then followed the instructions to figure out how to fix it.


I couldn't find anything that worked and came across an article talking about how there aren't any output HDMI / DisplayPort ports on most windows devices and that it's almost always USB.


so I looked for GoPro to USB cables and figured out that the USB-C cable should be able to send data


I grabbed my usb-c to USB cable and plugged it in. still nothing. I tried restarting each time, I tried shutting down each time, I tried running the scan in devices and I still can't find anything

My GoPro HERO 5 BLACK no USB connection and Troubleshooting can't fix it. I already contacted with GoPro Support and they told me if SD card by card reader shows file in Quik software everything is OK. How can I restore connection via USB like I have before?I'mlooking

GoPro No USB Connection

Hi all,

Just got a second hand GoPro Hero 2 HD and I'm trying to connect it to my Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10.

I've tried reinstalling the USB drivers but that seemed to have no effect, my Surface isn't even showing a connected device.

A couple of threads online suggest it might be the USB 3.0 to 2.0 connection but surely the 3.0 port would support connection to a 2.0 cable no?

Don't know what else to try short of buying a new 3.0 cable for the GoPro. Any suggestions would be welcome.
