I'm unable to access my desktop because of the account changing.

I have had my computer for years and, recently, an 'activate your windows' text appeared at the right bottom of my screen. It asked me to login to my outlook account - which I did - in order to restablish the windows so as to remove this small text. The great problem is: the password of that same outlook account was saved ON the computer - within a password saver. When I reiniciated the machine, I could not enter it anymore with my former MACHINE PASSWORD which is different from the outlook one. From now on, I cannot access my own computer, because I have no access to the password of the acc

    Unable to access MS account

Hi, Not strictly MS office. I'm having trouble accessing my MS account. I rarely use it, and do not use it to log in to my computer. I've had a couple of emails suggesting that there has been some unusual activity on it (from Russia!), and a security alert. These do seem genuine emails. However, I have tried to access the account to see the activity, but I have been unable to log in. It keeps prompting me for the password, and even when I have (apparently) successfully changed it, it then refuses to allow access saying that the password is incorrect. When changing the password, I have tried to put in the same one as previously entered, but it says that I cannot use it as it has already been used before. This would suggest that it has accepted the previously entered new password, but will now not accept it. I don't understand. Matt

  3. Kid locked out of Family account. Unable to change password

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the concern as you are unable to change your child’s Microsoft Account password. In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps.

    1. Login to
      www.login.live.com
      using your child’s Microsoft Account.
    2. Click on forgot password.
    3. Check the radio button and enter the Email account to send the code.
    4. In case you don’t have access to that verification email account then click on
I don’t have any of these.
    5. Now follow the onscreen steps and check if you are able to reset the password.

Let us know the results. If the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.

    2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
    3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.
    Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
    3. Select add someone else on this PC.
    4. Enter a user name and hit next.
    5. Click on Finish.
    6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
    Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
