Windows 10: Image Distortion after Game Crash

I booted up Tony Hawk 1+2 today and decided to close the game by right clicking the task bar and closing program. The game got stuck on a black screen. I was able to open Task Manager but could not close the game with it.

Upon restart, the screen seemed brighter and there is now some kind of distortion in images and text. I am not sure how to describe how it looks off so I took a picture.

I apologize for the quality but I could not find an easy way to host an actual screenshot. Any idea what could be causing this? I would greatly appreciate any help or advice. My system also says there was a Windows update installed today if that makes any difference. I tried to use System Recovery but it failed to recover a state from earlier today.

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

sound distorted after windows 10 anniversary upgrade

This is where I'm at on my HP laptop with Windows 10 and the Anniversary update.

I completed step #3 "hardware and sound" but that took me to an option for "sound, speakers." There was no "properties" as step #4 suggests. I selected "sound, speakers" and then found "properties." After selecting "properties" there was no "enhancements
tab" as step #5 suggests.

Regardless, I then uninstalled the realtek audio driver. I noticed that when I did this without restarting my laptop that the sound was now tinny, but not distorted as it was previously. After restarting, the sound was again full, yet distorted.

Realtek still shows in my programs list, though it shows no memory is used.
