Windows 10: Image Previews Not Showing

I recently had a clean reinstall of Win10 and ever since then, my image preview thumbnails are not showing. I have followed just about any instruction in this forum and in other threads to try and fix this problem but I just can`t solve it.



My folder options are set as recommended and this applies to all the folders I have.





I have also tried reinstalling File Explorer options to default, run SFC scan, performed a Disk Cleanup more than twice and I have tried using thisthumbnail repair tool. None of all these solutions seem to work and I really need those image previews.

Windows 10 preview pane does not show image previews

I have file explorer open, preview pane is selected. No matter what layout I choose the image file does not show in the preview pane. Large icons, list, it does not show either way.

Any thoughts and ideas?

3. Since when are you facing this issue?
   

The Preview pane shows the contents of certain files selected in File Explorer. For images, it is a thumbnail preview.

If you are unable to preview in File explorer, I suggest you to try the below steps.

1. Open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.
   
2. Click Options, and then click Change folder and search options to open Folder Options dialog.
   
3. Check the Show preview handlers in preview pane box, and click/tap on OK.​

Can't restore image preview

Hi da2592,

Since unchecking the option Always show icons, never thumbnails did not address the problem with your image preview, there's a possibility that the thumbnail cache database on your Windows 10, which is used to display a preview
of a file or a folder, is corrupted.

To isolate this problem, I suggest that you look into the Performance Options and make sure to enable the
Show thumbnail instead of icons option. Follow these steps:

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Click on System and Security > System.
3. Click the Advanced System Settings to open the Performance Options dialogue box.
4. On the Visual Effects tab, check the box Show thumbnails instead of icons.
5. Click OK to apply changes.

If this doesn't work, then you may need to recreate the thumbnail cache using Disk Cleanup. Here's how:

1. Open File Explorer.
2. On the left pane, click This PC.
3. Right click the C: drive (or where Windows 10 is installed) and select
   Properties.
4. Click Disk Cleanup.
5. Check the Thumbnails option only. Uncheck all the other options, then click
   OK.
6. Click Delete Files to confirm.
