  1. Impact if we overwrite vbscript.dll from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2019

Our app is running slower in Windows Server 2019 compared to Windows Server 2008 R2.This is also reproduceable in Windows 10 Dev Machine. We tried to replace the vbscript.dll from 2008 R2 to our Dev Machine and we can see a lot of improvements. Now I'd like to know if there would be any impact we do the same thing to our Windows Server 2019.If there's any suggestions, I'd like to hear it. If this won't make any impact of having an old version of DLL in a new OS version, then we will proceed on this change.Reference: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52117872/vbscript-slow-under-windows-feature

Free Windows Server 2008 (and 2008 R2) for students

Microsoft recently added Windows Server 2008 R2 to Dreamspark, so now Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2 are available for free to any student enrolled in a class at any of the universities on their list. Windows Server 2008 R2 can be converted so that it is like Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 can be converted so that it is like Vista. I'm still running XP Pro, but only until I find a free antivirus program for server operating systems *Roll Eyes Impact if we overwrite vbscript.dll from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2019

Microsoft Officially RTMs Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Microsoft Corp. today announced the release to manufacturing (RTM) of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the next versions of its flagship desktop and server operating systems. With the completion of this development phase, industry partners are readying products in time for the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 worldwide general launches. Windows 7 will be generally available to customers around the world on October 22, and Windows Server 2008 R2 will be generally available on or before that date. As always, current customers of the Windows Volume Licensing program, Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) subscribers and TechNet subscribers will be among the first to get customer access to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in the coming weeks.

Microsoft will make the announcement on its Windows Team and Windows Server Blogs later today. More information about today's news is available via the following links:

  4. Impact if we overwrite vbscript.dll from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2019

    Migration of Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2019 R2

My question to ask is, we currently have a server as PDC with a Windows 2008 R2 Standard, with this being a bit old, we want to migrate to a indows Server 2008 R2 to 2019 R2 Standard in a virtualized machine with VMWare Vsphere, my question is the following:

How can we transfer the roles and functions from said old server to the new one?

Do we have an official Microsoft manual?

From what I read in different forums, the FSMO & DNS must be transferred and the new server that also must be promoted to DC in order to carry out the transfer. Is this correct? Because we're not entirely sure...

    Kind Regards,

    Sam
