  1. Impact of enabling private network ranges and adding a private subnet group policy

Hello,I wanted to know if enabling private network ranges and adding a private subnet has any major impact?I had an issue with not being able to open Microsoft Store when the Windows devices are connected to Global Protect VPN.The resolution mentioned in the following link "https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/shell-experience/microsoft-store-not-open-domain-joine-computer-vpn" has been applied to one computer and that fixed the issue, but I wanted to know if this has any major impact before applying it to all the computers. Thanks in advance.

    :)

  2. public or private network settings

windows 10, network created as private to enable sharing of network devices, but the public network takes over when rebooting, how to make the private settings stay primary? aslo the subnet pickups up the wifi factory address as 192.168.7.1 and locks
to 255.255.255.0 no matter how often address is assigned manually for home group.

  3. Change my network to private in windows 10?

The secpol.msc does not exist in Windows 10. Changing to private in Homegroup troubleshooter is only temporary.

  4. Impact of enabling private network ranges and adding a private subnet group policy

Error: "Can create home group in private network only" - the wireless network is private though

    Hi Ron,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I understand your concern about connecting to HomeGroup network with error: Can create home group in private network only, we will help you with this issue.

I would like to inform that this issue might have occurred due to settings in the Network type on Windows 10.

Step 1: I suggest you to check with the network type on Windows 10, try the below:

Right click on the Network icon in the System tray
and click on Open Network and Sharing Center.

Here you will see the network you are connected to and what type of network Windows 10 has identified it as. (Private/ Public).

Step 2: Also, I suggest you to change the network type to Private if it is not and check if it helps.

    • Log-in as an Administrator, on the desktop, click on the Network system icon in the taskbar notification area.
    • Right click on your network connection and click on
      Turn sharing on or off
      .
    • Click on Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices.

    • Accept the UAC (User Account Control) prompt and check if it helps.

For reference: HomeGroup problems in Windows

(Applies to Windows 10 as well)

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue for further assistance.
