Hi,I'm really struggling with this one! So a bit of context first : I'm using a powershell module that I've made on my own. This module automatically creates à hyper-v VM, installs windows in it, runs scripts that install applications silently, syspreps and makes all of this into a wim ready to be deployed with configuration manager. I use PowerShell Direct to create remote PS sessions to run the code inside the VM. I do using on the host Invoke-Command -Session $Session -ScriptBlock $ScriptBlock. $ScriptBlock containsthe code to be executed remotly. In some script, I try to import certificates

    :)

    Chrome cert not importing

I have a cert with SAN that I want to use for my localhost projects so I can stop getting warnings from Chrome.

When I go to Settings => Advanced => Manage Certs => Personal => Import, I can import my cert and I see a message that says "The import was successful".

But I don't see the localhost cert listed in my Personal list of certs.

Why is this failing to import? OR why is it showing a success message while not showing the cert in the list of Personal certs?

  3. Import CERT in Google Chrome fails in Windows

    This is a workaround:

    1. Convert your password-protected certificate to a non-password-protected certificate
    2. Move it to your Windows machine
    3. Import it in Chrome for Windows. You will not be asked about a password
    4. Delete the non-password protected certificate from the file system.

To unprotect a certificate, do as explained here:

As Import Password enter the original password, as Export Password enter an empty password.

[Import-Certificate], UnauthorizedAccessException E_ACCESSDENIED when tring to import cert...

Windows 10 not using imported cert to decrypt EFS files

I encrypted some files with Windows's built-in EFS encryption, which involved creating a new EFS certificate and saving a backup of it somewhere. I recently swapped motherboards/re-imaged my PC and now cannot access the encrypted files, which is expected.

I re-imported my saved certificate using the correct password which worked successfully, but I still cannot access these files - getting various errors about permissions or decryption that aren't very specific.

Here is my current certificate store, I have created a new EFS cert and imported my old one:

[Import-Certificate], UnauthorizedAccessException E_ACCESSDENIED when tring to import cert... PmO7u.png

Here is the details of the cert matching the thumbprint of the cert that is allowed to access the file.

[Import-Certificate], UnauthorizedAccessException E_ACCESSDENIED when tring to import cert... kTx7I.png

If I try and remove the checkbox for encrypting these files I get this error:

[Import-Certificate], UnauthorizedAccessException E_ACCESSDENIED when tring to import cert... fu8R9.png

Are there any steps I missed?
