Windows 10: Importing Calendar and Contacts from Outlook 2016 to Windows 10 Mail

    Importing Calendar and Contacts from Outlook 2016 to Windows 10 Mail


    I have Outlook 2016 installed as part of Office on my Windows 10 computer and would like to import the 2016 contacts and calendar to the Windows 10 Mail app. I have searched to web for instructions for doing so but have not found an answer. I intend to use the Mail app on a W10 machine without Office installed.



    Can this be done and how do I go about doing it?

    Mail?? Windows 10, Outlook 2016, Gmail

    On my Win 10 taskbar, I have an icon simply called 'Mail'. It has my calendar and contacts from a previous Outlook-office/Gmail installation that I no longer find anywhere else. Is 'MAIL' on my desktop the same as Windows Live Mail?? Where did that 'Mail'
    icon come from (not in Programs and Features), where does it get it's calendar and contact files and
    most important how can I get these files copied or synced to my NEW Outlook 2016/Gmail accounts.


    Since installing Outlook 2016 I have followed all kinds of instructions from support forums, wasting countless hours, and in the process have created a multitude of .ost files in a couple of different locations. None of those have the calendar or contacts
    and trying to merge a previous .pst file has never given me back the calendar nor the contacts.

    Thanks, unfortunately, none of those links help me.

    Is 'Mail' and 'Live Mail' one and the same?

    My Gmail accounts, contacts and calendars have always been in Office Outlook. It's the number one reason for having Office, -now 2016. 'Mail' must have imported the calendar and contacts from my previous Outlook 2010.

    When setting up Outlook 2016 I had problem after problem to do with exchange, security settings, passwords no longer accepted, pst vs ost and so on.

    The accounts I set up over and over again in Outlook are: Exchange, IMAP, and POP. All brought in my years of email from Gmail but none have the calendar nor the contacts.



    'MAIL' for some reason is working fine and has all my mail, calendar and contact files .

    What I need is a way to import my calendar and contacts from
    MAIL into Outlook to work with Gmail there.
