Windows 10: Impossible to log in to windows - SMS not received, can't go through "verify your account"

Hi,I got my laptop repaired by a Dell technician today and Windows asked me after it to login again and set a new pin.I have already wasted 2 hours as I can't get the verification code as an SMS on my phone for the 2-step verification, hence I can't use my laptop with the MS account.My mobile number is correct, I can't update anything anywhere as it keeps asking me to verify my account.At some point, I tried to add another e-mail and received an e-mail saying that it will be updated in 30 days but I need my account sooner so I have cancelled that request.I have been through all the troubleshoo

Send and receive SMS messages without a mobile phone.

SMS is actually sent via internet Email

On a phone when you sent a text to [standard 10 digit phone number] it is actually sending via internet email to the proper portal.

To sent a text from your Email to me it would be [my 10 digit phone number]@sms.myboostmobile.com
To a T-Mobile phone it would be [10 digit phone number]@tmomail.net

A bit clumsy but can be done

Unable to send and receive SMS messages

Hello,

Until recently I was able to receive SMS messages sent from Windows Live Messenger on my cellular phone a WP7 LG Quantum from AT&T. This was working with this phone previously. I have removed the phone from the Hotmail account
and reset the phone to factory defaults then re-added it without the issues being resolved. It also appears that I am no longer able to send a SMS message from windows live messenger. I have verified that i am able to send my phone a SMS message when in log
into my AT&T account online. Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Also may I suggest you change email accounts to one of the following.....

Gmail
Outlook

The reason is they both use "Step two verification". This style of verification means even if a hacker gets your password they cannot log in to your account. You see every time someone try's to log in that hasn't been verified you will get a text or a phone call giving you a final code to log in. Its very easy and simple to setup also. The great thing is once you setup your Email application with a specific "application password" from that account you never have to log in again AND your account is protected from being logged in from foreign entities.

I like the new outlook personally however Gmail is also damn good. Gmail also has an IP tracker that allows you to see WHERE the account has been logged in from. Anyway let us know if you wanna change over and have any questions. We will be happy to help and welcome to TPU!
