In 3d paint, I request that there be a way to set a default. So that the last used setting stays.For example, adding text to a form. I am to write in my name, address, and so many other text fields. I notice that I am forced to click 2d, not 3d with every single text field. I request that when I set the text to 2d, that the setting remain as the default. It is a nuisance to have to keep going back to that panel on the right and clicking 2d.

Where is the Paint 3D Executable?

Paint 3D is a modern app, which doesn't use executables like older classic applications.

If you want to associate file formats with Paint 3D as the default, you have to do the following.

Point a JPEG file

Right click it

Click Properties

Click the General tab

Click Change

Choose Paint 3D in the list

Click OK

Click Apply then OK

Repeat the same step for a BMP file.

or

Click Start > Settings > Apps > Default apps

Scroll to the bottom

Click Choose default apps by file type

Scroll down to JPEG and Bitmap

Click on the current associated application then choose Paint 3D from the list.

My fbx files are Microsoft 3d paint files

Hi Joel,

You may follow the steps below and see if it works:

• In your search box, type Default apps settings.
• On the Default apps settings page, click on Choose default apps by file type.
• Under Choose default apps by file type screen, scroll down to .fbx and change Paint 3d to the Unity app installed on your computer.

Please check if it works.
