Windows 10: In Explorer the preview pane does not display Word or Excel doc, however it does display...

This just started on my new PC, it worked fine on my old PC using Windows11 on both. I'm using Office 2013.

In explorer Preview pane does not display excel & word documents, PDF files are visible in the pane.

Windows 10 File Explorer Preview Pane Word Doc fix

I have a Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 and Office 365 2016. Word docs do not display on the File Explorer Preview Pane. Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and others all display fine. How can I fix that so Word docs display also?

*UPDATE 10/27/15: I spent the entire day yesterday with 4 separate techs at our local MS Store, still to no avail. Conclusion was it is a Windows 10 issue and will need to wait for an official
MS fix.

That said; one of the MS store tech's sent me the below prior to my visit there ... maybe the Admin CMD window command suggested might work for some? I did not though for me...

 

Windows 10 File Explorer Preview Pane Word Doc fix

Hmmm; Well, This works displaying a Thumbnail (TN) for NEW Word docs on the desktop, but not for re-saving an existing doc to the desktop or in a folder.

It DID work a few times creating a new Word doc in a folder ... which was exciting.

But for some reason after I tried re-saving an existing doc as a TN, neither it or a new Word doc will show in Preview Pane in a folder. They will still show as a TN on desktop, but not in a folder.

And of course this does not resolve the issue for all my existing Word docs in various folders (Unless I would open all, re-save as Thumbnail, and it worked in folders ... which now it does not).

Again: For some reason Preview Pane does not work on only Word docs.

Does File Explorer, or some other component, need to be somehow 'Fixed' or re-installed?
